Pastor Jim opened my eyes with fresh context to a story I’ve heard many times. How can a slave nation of Israelites (who hasn’t fought a battle in 400 years) overcome an attack from a seasoned army? They lift their eyes to God, Jehovah Nissi.

I have days when it feels as if my problems loom on the horizon as overwhelming as an army. And in those moments, I need to remember who God is. He is Jehovah Nissi.

2 Chronicles 32:7 Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or discouraged because of the king of Assyria and the vast army with him, for there is a greater power with us than with him. With him is only the arm of flesh, but with us is the Lord our God to help us and to fight our battles.
